GAC Group's GOVY AirJet Completes Maiden Flight

The GOVY AirJet, Guangqi Group's inaugural composite wing flying car, successfully completed its maiden flight on July 3rd, marking a milestone for Guangdong province in the burgeoning low-altitude economy. This achievement positions the region at the forefront of "urban three-dimensional transportation."
The GOVY AirJet boasts an innovative design featuring an 8-axis, 8-rotor, and double-ducted composite wing configuration. This setup combines the efficient cruising capabilities of fixed-wing aircraft with the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) flexibility of multi-rotors. This allows the vehicle to take off and land rapidly without the need for runways, making it adaptable to complex urban environments.

The GOVY AirJet is powered by a GAC-developed high-performance electric drive system, enabling a maximum flight speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) and a range of 200 km (124 miles). It also supports 25-minute fast charging, enhancing its operational efficiency.

Prioritising safety, the GOVY AirJet incorporates a lightweight design with safety standards exceeding typical aviation grades. Over 90% of its components are crafted from carbon fibre aviation composite materials.

GAC plans to launch a demonstration operation plan by 2027 in 2-3 cities within the Greater Bay Area. This initiative aims to progressively refine the operational model and service system for urban air mobility.
